Google GDrive vs. Microsoft SkyDrive: Is the War On?
Are you looking to compare SkyDrive vs. GDrive? GDrive isn’t yet released so the war isn’t on yet but in typical Google fashion, it’s anticipated to be the biggest thing since sliced bread. If you use it, you could access your data from anywhere and if your hard drive crashes, all you have to do is access the ‘cloud’ where all your data happily resides until you’re in need of it.
SkyDrive currently offers free virtual storage to those with a .Net passport account and it’s currently available unlike GDrive which is still an unconfirmed rumor (at the time this post is being written).
What SkyDrive Does
SkyDrive allows you to ‘share your files and photos with almost anyone.’ Log in to your Windows Live account and you’re presented with SkyDrive where you’ve got 25GB of free space. You can add a folder or look at your recent folders and other Live users in your network can share information with you through their files. You can access your own files and shared information via internet connection anywhere.
Is Google Going To Do It Better?
Will Google’s GDrive knock SkyDrive out of the water? A lot of people think so. When you imagine the functionality of all the other Google apps working together with your own virtual hard drive, it’s easy to see how it could be very advantageous to use it. The way Google continues to integrate functionalities of Google Labs graduates is exciting. We’ll have to wait to see what’s what but in the meantime, a lot of people are using their Gmail account, which is unlimited, to store files and access them somewhere else.
The fact that it has been a long and anticipate wait for Google’s Gdrive storage solution leads many to believe that it will kick some Microsoft SkyDrive butt.
